HOTEL ANTEROOM NAHA
A hotel floating in the Okinawan Sea
HOTEL ANTEROOM NAHA is a hotel planned at the tip of Naha Port. It aims to bring new vitality to the area through Okinawan art and culture. Art curation was handled by SANDWICH, and the exterior facade draws on motifs from artworks. The building itself is intended to appear as art within the landscape. A gallery space inside allows visitors to move through the building and view art against the backdrop of the sea, while works are also placed in shared areas and guest rooms so that art is encountered naturally during a stay. "Anteroom" means a waiting room, and the hotel is positioned as a place to prepare for the next destination. The rooms evoke a ship on the sea, with a blue-gray palette and soft, rounded design and materials to create a calming space. The stay itself is meant to be a moment to gather one's thoughts and senses.
